Steve was hired as Library Director in 1998. He graduated from Emporia State University (Kansas) in 2004 (Master of Library Science). His undergraduate work was at Southern Utah University (Major: Political Science; Minor: Psychology). Steve returned to SUU to complete a long-time dream of majoring in Anthropology. He completed that degree in 2019. During Steve's administration that current library was constructed (dedicated 2003). Steve has served in various offices and positions in the Utah Library Association including President Elect/Vice President, President, Past President, Public Library Section Chair, Legislative Committee Chair, Intellectual Freedom Committee Chair, and others. He has belonged to the association's genealogy roundtable for many years. He has testified before the State Legislature in behalf of statewide library funding. In addition, he taught Information Literacy (LIB 1010) at Dixie State College for many years. He has been appointed Co-historian (with his sister, Sandra) of Parowan City, where he lives and has served as mayor, city council member, and on several committees. Steve also has experience as a banker, accountant, auditor, and city recorder. Steve also has a keen interest the theater arts and has directed, acted, and even written works for a community theater.
