We have a new library director!
Welcome Susan Knox to ACPL
The Adair County Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Knox as the new library director. Ms. Knox began her work in this position on March 1, 2025.
Assistant Director Sonja Hannah welcomed the appointment: “On behalf of myself and the staff we are thrilled to welcome Ms. Knox as the Adair County Public Library Director. We look forward to introducing her to our patrons and supporting her in the library’s future growth.”
As Library Director, Ms. Knox will help the library fulfill its mission of serving the people of Adair County through excellent library services, collection development, and programming. “I am excited to join the Adair County Public Library as Director, and I feel very fortunate to be joining a skilled and experienced library staff," said Knox. “I am humbled by this opportunity, and I will work to ensure our library remains a vibrant hub for community engagement and learning.”
The library, located at One Library Lane in Kirksville, is open Monday, Thursday, Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.
Knox has lived in Adair County for over 20 years. When asked what she is looking forward to the most in her new role, Knox said, “I am looking forward to meeting our current patrons and welcoming new patrons to the library!” Previous to serving as the Library Director, she worked for the Kirksville R-III School District. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Literature. Knox lives in Kirksville with her spouse, Mark Jennings, and two sons.

The book can be found along the forest Lake Trail and is spread out a half mile. StoryWalk is brought to you by ACPL and Thousand Hills State Park, promoting literacy and time outdoors.
