AARP FOUNDATION TAX-AIDE SERVICE PROVIDES FREE TAX PREPARATION AND ASSISTANCE
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation's largest volunteer-run free tax preparation service
Tax-Aide offers free, in-person federal and state tax preparation and assistance to low- and moderate-income individuals of all ages, with special attention to those aged 50 and older. Our IRS-Certified volunteers work hard to make sure you get every tax credit and deduction you have earned,
Volunteers will be available to assist with federal and state income tax preparation and filing from February 5th until April 9th. This service will be provided by appointment on Wednesdays from 1:00pm – 5:45pm and Thursdays from10:00am – 4:00pm at the Murphy Public Library. Appointments can be made by calling the Library at (828) 837-2417 or visiting the Library located at 9 Blumenthal Street, Murphy, NC.
Taxpayers are requested to bring:
- Photo ID for you and your spouse (if married)
- Social Security Cards or ITIN documents for you, your spouse and/or dependents
- Birth dates for you, your spouse and/or dependents
- Tax Forms for 2019 (W-2, 1099, 1098, 1095 & Social Security Statement, etc.)
- Copy of 2018 Tax Return
- Information for other income
- Information for all deductions/credits
- Proof of savings or checking account and routing numbers (for direct deposit of refund)
We make it easy for you. You will get personal attention until your taxes are completed. In most cases, we’ll submit your forms directly to the IRS and tax authorities.
There is no charge for the service. Taxpayersdo not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree; Tax-Aide serves taxpayers of all ages.
