Telling Their Story - A Veteran's History Project

Telling Their Story - A Veteran's History Project

As One Book One Putnam focuses on our veterans this year with their seasonal read, the Putnam County Archives is working to preserve the stories of our local veterans and share them with the community.  As part of the One Book One Putnam celebration, we will be presenting a film composed entirely of stories from veterans in our community.  Here's how you can participate!

Veterans from OR living in Putnam County are invited to share their stories.  Alternatively, if you are the family of a veteran who has passed and have a story that they shared with you, we will be happy to preserve and share that as well.

There are many ways to submit your story:

  • Send in a video or audio recording by email to mischa.johns@putnam-fl.gov
  • Bring your audio or video in to your library.  Be sure to include contact information if you want your storage media (thumb or CD) returned so we can call you to pick it up.
  • Contact the Putnam County Archives at the Palatka Library at mischa.johns@putnam-fl.gov or at (386) 329-0441 and schedule a time to have us record you.  We can record audio or video, whichever you're more comfortable with.
  • Send in your written story and one of our volunteers will read it for the film.  You can either email it, or postal mail it to

Putnam County Library

601 College Road

Palatka, FL  32177

All entries will be come part of the Putnam County Archives for public viewing, so please ensure that the material is appropriate and you are comfortable with it being public.  These entries will be compiled into a film to be shown across the county to the public during the One Book One Putnam reading season, January-February 2023.  We also welcome any accompanying photos to go with the story.
