K-Gr 3—Baron Von Bubbles, better known as Bub the Pug, is back—this time with a solo in Bella's Pet Choir. The book follows the familiar format of lined paper with text, large colorful illustrations, and expressive speech bubbles. A fun visual touch is the small emotion bubble near Bub, changing colors and expressions to match his feelings—red for anger, orange for surprise, green for happiness, and more. When Bub falls off the stage and breaks his leg, he's stuck wearing a plastic cone, which ruins his outfit and makes him want to quit. But with some encouragement, he learns that what matters most isn't how he looks—it's being himself. The short, simple text and engaging format make this a great choice for readers transitioning to chapter books. The back matter includes comprehension questions and activity ideas for deeper engagement. VERDICT A lively and creative addition to this entertaining series, sure to delight Bub the Pug fans.
