In the latest installment of their Dark Olympus series (most recently Neon Gods, 2021), Robert weaves the tale of Zeus and Hera, a couple whose marriage was born out of a business arrangement and a need for power in a increasingly unstable Olympus. But when Circe threatens Hera’s family, Hera finds the only person she can turn to is the husband she had been planning to kill. While Zeus strives to rule a crumbling empire, he can’t help but find himself drawn to the wife who hates him, over and over again. If unfamiliar with the series, some readers may find this a somewhat difficult story to dive into due to the number of characters and their changing names. However, the story draws in the reader through sheer chemistry as the push and pull between Zeus and Hera grows into a volatile relationship. Fans of Robert and of Greek mythology in general as well as readers who love arranged-marriage tropes will adore this tale of two powerful people finding love in the chaos of a rebellion.
