It’s hard to imagine a cookbook geared towards cooking with kids that’s more comprehensive. More than 60 recipes represent 20 countries, with introductory fun facts and a "did you know" list for each country (geared towards younger kids; teen chefs might find this information a bit elementary). Major steps for each dish are photographed in color, then designated with an age level, from 3 years to 15 and up. Recipes are written simply, with explanations for unusual ingredients, icons for gluten-/dairy-/nut-free, total prep and cook times, and a brief blurb about the origins of the dish. Flavors range from souvlaki to Irish lamb stew, tagine, shawarma, feijoada, fajitas, and Maryland crab cakes. (The U.S. chapter features six recipes compared to three each for the other 19 countries.) Start here for family fun in the kitchen. Includes a glossary.
