The Duncombe Public Library, built in 1978, occupies approximately 1500 square feet in a metal building shared by the volunteer fire department which is located on the corner of Main and Prince Streets, just one block south of the post office and city hall. In 1999/2000 the library received a substantial bequest to cover the costs of remodeling the interior of the library.
The Duncombe Public Library is a State accredited library, is a member of the Webster County Library Association, and is an Iowa Locator Workstation. The library also participates in the Open Access Program and Interlibrary Loan Program.
The Library is able to offer its patrons normal library services, including circulation of books, videos, audio books, VHS and DVD’s, and has public access to computers, fax and photocopier. The library also has a disc repair system and can clean/repair DVDs, CDs, Game Discs and Blue Ray discs. Programming includes a summer reading program for children ages 3 to 6, 7 to 10, and from 10 to 14; and a weekly story hour for children ages 3 to 6. For schedule please check our online calendar.
