CURBSIDE SERVICE

CRDL Offers Curbside Service with Phased Reopening Monday, June 15

Since Chippewa River District Library closed on March 16, many of you have asked when we’ll reopen.

We’ve got great news — CRDL will be offering checkouts of physical materials beginning Monday, June 15. This means you can get the books you love without stepping out of your vehicle.

To facilitate a safe return to our library, the team at CRDL is reopening all five of our locations to offer curbside service.

How it Works

Using Curbside Pickup is simple.

Place items on hold by visiting the library catalog and placing a hold on the items you want. Choose the location you wish to pick up at. You can also call the branch to have library staff place items on reserve.

You will receive a notification when your books are ready. This will be by your preferred method on file; phone, mail, email, or text.

Drive to the library and park in the rear parking lot of Veterans Memorial Library (off Wisconsin Street) in one of the numbered parking spots, or in front of the building at all other locations.

Call the branch phone number when you arrive and let the library staff know you are there. Please be prepared to provide a description of your vehicle, and if you have any special needs or instructions. If you don’t own a cell phone, please call your pickup location before you leave your home, and our staff will be happy to schedule a time for you.

We will then bring your materials to you. Please stay in your vehicle and a staff member will place your materials on your car hood or in front of your vehicle. Once they have headed back to the building you may retrieve your materials.

If you travel to the library with any mode of transportation other than a personal vehicle, please call the library staff when you have arrived and let them know. You will be instructed further on how to retrieve your materials.

When you are finished with your items, return them to the book drop of your nearest location.

For Holds Placed Before the Library Closed

If you placed holds prior to closing, you’ll soon receive an email from our staff letting you know your items are available for pickup.

How We’re Keeping You Safe

Our first priority during this time is the protection of the health and well-being of our staff and patrons.

Our curbside service is designed to minimize human contact as much as possible. Once you return your library materials, they will be placed in quarantine for three days before they’re placed back into circulation.

Our staff will receive daily temperature checks before being allowed to work and are required to wear face masks at any time they are within 10 feet of another person.

During the first phase of our reopening, our library facilities will remain closed to the public. All in-person programs, community events, and meeting room reservations will remain suspended for the time being.
