Fur Bearing Mammals of Vermont 5/27/2010 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Kim Royer, Wildlife Biologist for VT Fish & Wildlife, will discuss how the shift from forest to agricultural land in the 1800s affected the populations of furbearers such as wolves, fisher, bobcat and beaver and how the farm abandonment in the late 1800's to mid 1900's influenced bobcat, coyote and fox populations. Kim will have available pelts and skulls from many of Vermont's mammals to see and touch and she will discuss their life histories and adaptations.
