Sheffield Public Library Wi-Fi Hotspot Checkout Policy

• A $50.00 cash deposit is required to check out a hotspot.
• Borrowers must be 18 years of age or older.
• Borrower’s contact information must be current.
• Borrowers must have the following forms of identifications at each checkout.
o Valid library card
o Valid photo ID
o Valid phone number
• Borrowers must have a cardholder record in good standing prior to checkout.
• Hotspots are available on a first-come, first-served basis but can be reserved up to 2 weeks ahead of time for out of town trips. Half of the deposit ($25.00) is due at the time of reservation with the other half due when the hotspot is picked up. Hotspots must be picked up on the day for which they are reserved.
• Each borrower (one per family/household) may checkout one (1) hotspot at a time.
• Hotspots will be checked out for a period of seven (7) days with no renewals.
• Hotspots may only be checked out once a month.
• Borrowers are responsible for any damage to the hotspot due to neglect, abuse, loss or physical damage.
• Hotspots shall not to be returned in the book drop. They must be returned to a staff member at the circulation desk, who will check to make sure all items are returned intact and no damage has occurred.
• Borrowers are responsible for the replacement cost of the hotspot ($100) and accessories (case $20) if any are lost, stolen, or damaged.
• Hotspots may not be used for any illegal purposes.
• If hotspots are not returned on time, a fine of $5.00 per day will be assessed and all library privileges will be revoked until fines are paid.
• Hotspots not returned within 3 days after the due date will be deactivated.
• Hotspots may not be used to access obscene or pornographic sites.
• Hotspots may not be used to violate the privacy of any person or represent oneself as another person.
I understand that I am responsible for the safe and timely return of this borrowed hotspot. I acknowledge that I have read, understand and agree to the Checkout Policy. If damages or late fees are incurred I understand that I am responsible for all charges as applicable.
