Unscheduled Library Closing Policy
The Director of the Belmond Public Library has the discretion to close the library due to inclement weather or other conditions when closing is necessary for the safety of patrons and staff. If the director is unavailable the decision will be made by library staff on duty.
If the library is closed or closes early, employees will be paid their regular hourly wage for the hours they were scheduled to work.
If the library is open and an employee is unable to get to work due to inclement weather or other conditions, that prevent the employee from working their scheduled hours, the employee may use vacation time, time off without pay or reschedule time missed, at the discretion of the director.
Any unscheduled closings will be posted, if possible, on the library doors, library’s Facebook page and area radio stations.
