Gowrie Public Library
The building that house the Gowrie Library was built in 1939 under the Works Projects Administration. It is located on the main street of the Gowrie and has 12 available parking spaces as well as several reserved for handicapped parking. An access ramp is on the north side of the building.
Declaration of Services
The Gowrie Public Library is open 25 hours a week:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 1:00 - 5:00
Wednesday 1:00 - 7:00
Saturday morning 9 - noon
Library Services Include:
- Lending books, magazines, audio books, CDs, and DVDs
- Obtaining books and other materials through inter-library loan
- Educational programs
- Children's parties and reading programs
- Meeting room is available for small groups in the community
- Three personal computers are available to patrons
- Printers and scanner available
- With State of Iowa Libraries Online (SILO), the Gowrie Public Library offers its patrons a statewide union catalog with holdings of books and other materials from over 500 Iowa libraries.
- The Gowrie Public Library Board of Trustees meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00.
- Foundation board meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:00.
