Ages 3-5. The text is clever, and the paperwork is great in this Halloween pop-up. The premise is that if you walk down Scary Street you'll meet some awful looking creatures. And sure enough, there are a mummy and her baby, both bandage-wrapped, a mail-delivering werewolf who works at the "ghost office," and the local vet, Dr. Frank N. Stein. The pop-ups really zing: a witch unfolds out of a two-page spread as a frog jumps out of her book. In the last sly spread, one monster lifts off her head to reveal a cute girl inside. A sure shot of fun for Halloween story hours. --Ilene Cooper
