Alma Public Library Storywalk(r)
The Storywalk(r) is an exciting new community project! It consists of twenty displays strategically placed along the Alma River Walk, beginning at Pine River Park and ending at the Library. Each display shows a picture book spread. Enjoy the beautiful scenery while you share a family-friendly story!

This project was initially funded through the Next-Level Leadership in Small and Rural Libraries project of the Library of Michigan and the University of Michigan School of Information Science. Funding for the program was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ Library Services and Technology Act. Additional support was provided by Russell Cellular – Alma and the City of Alma Public Works Department.
“The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.”
In 2021, a significant upgrade to this project was made possible with funds from the Gratiot County Community Foundation and Walmart Giving America (Alma Walmart #1422).
