Book Clubs

The library has 2 active book clubs that are open for the public to join.   They are the Lake Bluff Book Club, and the Scholars and Scoundrels Men's book club.  For more information, check out their individual pages.


Computers

The library has a computer lab that is open to the public.  Registered borrowers can can use their library card to log into the computers.   Guests may obtain a guest pass at the computer center.    Please see our Computer Use Policy for more information.  We do have a printer available.  The cost is $.10 per page for black and white prints, and $.50 per page for color prints

 

Copiers

Copiers are available to the public.  Copies are $.10 per page for black and white, and $.50 per page for color. 

 

Crafts

We often have craft tables available in the children's department during breaks from school.   Also, we sometimes have adult programs featured around a specific craft.


Databases  -  MEL.org

   MEL resources are a part of your tax dollars at work, and have a HUGE number of e-resources available. 

 

Delivery Service:  Library2You

The library provides delivery service for residents who are homebound.   Library card holders who are:  physically disabled, advanced in age, suffering from a long-term illness, children suffering from a long-term illness, confined to home due to an accident or recent surgery.  If interested, please call 983-7167 or see a staff member for details.


DVDs

The library has entertainment videos, children's videos and non-fiction videos.  These can be checked out for 3 weeks at a time.

 

eBooks & audiobooks

We are pleased to offer the downloadable ebooks and audiobooks through the Southwest Michigan Digital Library, free with your library card. Read on phones, tablets, computers and eReaders including Kindle from our OverDrive website or on mobile devices using the Libby app.

Fax Service

The library offers fax service for a fee.   Staff will send faxes for $1.50 for the first page,  $1.00 for each additional page.    We can receive faxes for $1.00 a page.   Our fax number is (269) 201 - 5824. 


File/Paper Shredding

A large paper shredder is available in the library for the use of the public.   It will give two minutes of shred time for each dollar inserted. 


Genealogy

We have many genealogical resources available in our Local History and Genealogy room. 


Inter-library loan service

We are pleased to offer our library card holders inter-library loan service through MelCat, the statewide program.


Job search resources

We offer many books to help in your job search.  Books on resumes, cover letters, interviews and more.   We have online resources to help with job skills, and we can help direct you to online job search websites. 

 

Languages

We have two wonderful resources available for you to learn foreign languages and English as a second langauge.    Try out Mango or Basic ESL.

Michigan Activities Pass

Use your library card to get free and discounted passes to hundreds of Michigan’s state parks, historic sites, cultural attractions, campgrounds and recreation areas through the Michigan Activity Pass program.

Proctoring

We provide proctoring as a service to individuals living in the area.   Proctoring is available for both commercial and educational purposes.   Please review our proctoring policy for more information.

 

Programming for all ages

Our library staff works diligently to provide entertaining and informative programs for people of all ages.   Check our library calendar for upcoming events.


Reader’s Advisory

Not sure what you should read next?   Ask a library staff member!   We have many resources available to help point you to the next thing on your reading list. 


Reference Help

If you are stuck on a question - ask a librarian!   Reference Librarians are trained professionals who help library users with their information and research needs. That's why we are here!  We can:  Help you locate information and resources,  Guide you through the research process, Teach you how to use the various online periodical databases, catalogs, and the web.


Scanning

The library copy machine also serves as a scanner.   Scans can be made directly to an email.   There is no charge for scanning. 


Story Times

Story time is Wednesdays at 10:30am.   Story time is for infant - preschoolers.   Story time includes stories, songs, finger-plays and more.  They often include a craft and games.   See our children's page for more details. 


Summer Reading Programs

Each summer, our library staff wants to help "end the summer slump".   Reading for fun over the summer has been proven to help children retain what they have learned in all subjects over the course of the school year.   Our summer reading program runs for eight weeks.   We encourage children (and adults!)  to read all summer long.     Games, prizes and fun events help us to accomplish this goal. 


Tax Forms

The IRS and the Michigan Treasury make some tax forms available to us to hand out at the library.   Library staff are available to help locate other forms that may be required.
 

Technical assistance

Library staff answer hundreds of basic technical questions each month.   We are happy to get you started and answer questions on common office programs, the internet, and email.  

 

Wedding and Garden Events

Weddings and other events may be held in the beautiful library garden.   Please review our Garden Events Policy for more information.

We offer free wi-fi in the library.  See password log-in info at the desk.
