The Friends of the Belmond Public Library
Formed in 1995, the Friends is an auxiliary group of the Belmond Public Library Foundation. Their mission is to maintain an association of persons interested in the library, to focus public attention on the library, to lend financial support, to coordinate volunteer efforts, and help promote the programs and services of the Talbot Belmond Public Library.
As a Friend of the library, you will have the satisfaction of supporting one of our most mportant educational institutions, playing an important role in making books and other materials available to the community. You will also have the opportunity to volunteer for various events and programs.
Want to become a member? You can join for as little as $10.00 per year as an individual or $25.00 as a family. You can also become a gold member for only $100 per year. Dues are used towards purchasing books for the library, financing library programs, and other Friends initiatives. A membership drive is held each fall.
Wanting to help more? Concider volunteering! When filling our your membership form, you have the option to mark if and how you would like to volunteer. You also have the option of having your name added to the list of individuals who would like to be more involved by serving as a member of the executive board. Opennings come available to serve on the board occasionally. Contact the library if you have interest in serving in this way.
What are the Friend's initiatives? The Friends of the Library host a fundraising book sale each year during the Belmond Fall Festival, they often have a table at the summer market with information and a mini book sale, financially support library programming, allocate funds each year for the purchase of library materials, and coordinate the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for Belmond. They also provide volunteers for various library programming and initiatives.
How do I donate? Attend one of our fundraisers through the year. You can also give directly. Please make checks out to Friends of the Belmond Public Library. If you wish the funds to go towards the Imagination Library, please make that known at the time of giving. Donations may be dropped off at the library during business hours.
