Venito Garciabaḍ was a living breathing O’odham Library. He carried a wealth of information and was known as a philosopher and historian. He was always willing to share O’odham history, culture, ceremonies, songs, and dances with O’odham youth, elders, student and any community member or outsider he encountered. We are honored to carry out his legacy within the library and support the community’s culture and information needs as he did.

Mission

The mission of the Venito Garcia Library is to provide equitable access and services free of charge. Our goal is to support the Tohono O’odham Nation’s self-governing power through culturally relevant collections and programming rooted in himdag to empower the Tohono O’odham community through literacy, technology, creativity, as well as social/emotional and intellectual growth. Venito Garcia Library encourages lifelong multigenerational learning which will cultivate future leaders.
