InterLibrary Loan may be able to help!
InterLibrary Loan is a program were the SEARK College Library will borrow library material from another library for our patrons' use. As a member of OCLC, an international library consortium, the library has access to a worldwide network of libraries willing to share their resources. Upon request the library searches the OCLC database and requests needed material. Books, videos and tapes are sent through the mail. Copies of periodical articles are often faxed or e-mailed.
For a successful InterLibrary Loan transaction, the Library needs as much information as possible:
- Author's name
- Title of the book or article
- Publication information
- If a book:
- Publisher's name and copyright date and/or ISBN if known
- If an article:
- Name of magazine or journal and date of publication
- Your name and contact information
InterLibrary Loan requests may be dropped off at the Library's circulation desk or e-mailed to library@seark.edu.
InterLibrary Loan requests for books and/or videos can take several weeks, so please allow enough time for a request to be filled. Article requests generally can be completed within a week, however certain restrictions may apply to such requests due to the US Copyright Law.
Warning Notice Concerning Copyright Restrictions. The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, library and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of the copyright law.
