Reserve Collection
The Reserve Collection:
Is used to provide supplemental material for student use without requiring the purchase of additional texts or creating competition for a single copy in the library collection. Reserve material may include books or other material from the library or instructor's personal collections. A limited (2 -3) number of copies of a periodical article may be placed on reserve, but the library cannot accept copies of books or audio or video tapes unless they comply with the "fair use" provisions of the U. S. Copyright Law.
The circulation of reserve material is generally restricted to "in library use" or "overnight check-out" depending on the instructor's preference or the nature of the material. (Some videotapes can not be viewed in the library due to license and/or copyright restrictions.)
Material will be placed on Reserve on a semester-by-semester basis. Reserve material will be returned to the regular library collection or, in the case of personal copies, to the faculty member at the end of each semester.
Reserve material is shelved behind the circulation desk and must be requested from a library staff person. Items must be checked out with a SEARK College ID card.
