Mobile Hotspot Policy

hot spot Guidelines for Borrowing & Use
  • Patrons must be 18 years of age or older to checkout a Mobile Hotspot.
  • Patrons must have a valid library card in good standing. No fines or overdues.
  • Patrons must have no history of long-overdue (six months or longer) MHS checkouts within their household
  • LIMIT 1 Mobile Hotspot per address
  • A valid library card must be presented at checkout and the patron must be past the “New Patron” status.
  • Mobile Hotspots must be returned to the patron services desk at any Charlestown Clark County Public Library Branch. A Mobile Hotspot cannot be returned in drop boxes or to another library system.
  • Mobile Hotspots may be checked out for thirty days (30) for $30 cash with additional checkouts for $30 cash if there are no holds. The MHS must be brought into the branch and inspected by staff prior to re-checkout.
  • Patrons have 3 days, excluding Sundays and holidays, following the original checkout to return the MHS for a refund if the MHS does not work in the patron’s area.
  • Overdue Mobile Hotspots will be deactivated if not returned.
  • The Mobile Hotspot should be kept in a temperature controlled environment. Do not leave in a vehicle.
  • NOTE TO CAREGIVERS: Internet content filtering is NOT provided through the CCCPLibrary Mobile Hotspot. Caregivers are responsible for monitoring what children access via the CCCPLibrary Hotspot.

Fines & Liability

  • Overdue fines are $5 per day until returned.
  • Patrons will be charged $10 for Mobile Hotspots returned in a drop box or to a library other than the branches of the Charlestown Clark County Public Library.
  • Patron is responsible for costs associated with the loss or damage of the Mobile Hotspot and/or accessories.
    • Mobile Hotspot Unit: $75
    • Power adaptor/Power cord $10
    • Case: $15
    • Total replacement: $100
