How many items can I check out and for how long?

How many items can I check out at a time?

  • New Borrowers: 2 item check-out limit
  • All Other Borrowers: 25 total check-out limit per card
  • Fiction (Adult, YA, or Children’s): No special limits on authors/series
  • Non-Fiction (including Florida Non-Fiction): 2 items on the same subject
  • CDs/DVDs/Playaways:5 item max
  • Magazines/Comics:2 of the same series, 6 total

For how long can I check out books and movies?

All items have a standard checkout period of THREE WEEKS, with the exception of BEST SELLING titles or specialized reading lists (such as Sunshine State Youth Reader Award books) which can only be checked out for TWO WEEKS.

Do you charge fines?

Yes. Overdue fines for Best Sellers, Items on Hold, Interlibrary Loans, Sunshine State Readers, and other specialized reading lists: $.50 cents a day.

All other items: $.10 cents per day.

Please note: A user with over $5.00 in charges on his or her account or on an account linked with his or her household address will not have borrowing privileges until the entire charge has been cleared. Patrons may speak to the library director or assistant director regarding extenuating circumstances.

What happens if an item I checked out is lost or damaged?

You will be responsible for replacement and processing fees. Different types of items have different fees associated with them.

  • In-Print Items including Audio-Visual:
    • Cost + Processing Fee
  • Out-of-Print Items including A/V:
    • $30 + Processing - Adult & YA
    • $25 + Processing - Children’s
    • $6 - Processing Fee
  • Hang-up Bag:
    • $3 (cost of contents additional)
  • Uncataloged Paperbacks:
    • Can be replaced at cost or by purchasing a NEW paperback (published in the last 3 years) that is of equal or greater value
  • Magazines/Comics:
    • Cover Price
    • DVD/CD album cover: $4 (cost of contents additional)
