Document Delivery

Deans, chairmen, and teachers may request for delivery of books, journals or other print material to the office or faculty room. They will sign borrowers cards once they receive the document or material. In some cases, the libraries may deliver a document in answer to a reference question that may not have been answered right away..

Information Literacy Program

The Library System arranges different levels of Information Literacy Program for all Faculty. New teachers of the basic education departments at the North, Montessori and South campuses of the university listen to a library orientation during the pre-service seminar a week before the opening of classes. New faculty members of the University are given overview of the library system as they visit their college libraries.

During the first semester, librarians usually discuss with teachers the OPAC and selected applications of the Libraries integrated management information system software, Internet use, and recommending titles for acquisition. They also facilitate the hands-on exercises. This is part of the Instructional Development program for new teachers. Click the link for more details. (Link)

Periodical Routing

Recent issues of selected professional journals in different fields are routed to some academic and administrative heads upon request. The Serials Library takes the main responsibility for the routing although some libraries may have their own routing service.

Selection and Recommendation

Collection development is a joint responsibility of the academic and library staff. Teachers are encouraged to recommend books and other instructional materials. Faculty members may recommend titles any time they find titles worth acquiring. They must take note of author, title, publisher or book dealer, copyright date, and other relevant information about the book. They will have to fill out a recommendation form for this purpose.

During book fairs, faculty members may select titles they have personally seen and reviewed. They will have to fill out a selection form that must be inserted conspicuously in the book for Acquisitions staff to collect.
