Library Services

The Library services / facilities include Circulation Service, Reference Service, Online reservation of books, Recommendation of library material, Current Awareness Service, Inter Library Loan Service, Photocopying / Printing Service, Orientation and Information Sessions, Selective Dissemination of Information, Audio Visual Service and Multimedia Section.


Services

Audio / Visual Service

Library users can utilize audio visual resources available in library. To facilitate the users, necessary equipment has been provided for this purpose. Library staff also extends help to the library users in using these resources.

Circulation Services

Library materials are borrowed and returned at the circulation desk, which is located near the main entrance. Reserved books, audio visual material, periodicals, reference books and CDs / DVDs can be used with in library.

Current Awareness Service

Library members are regularly informed about the recent acquisitions in the library. A list of "New Acquisitions" is sent to the library users by e-mail on regular basis. "New Acquisitions" is also available in the Library web page.

Digital Document Delivery Service (DigDDS)

Digital Document Delivery Service (DigDDS) is a value added service provided to USC Library patrons.  It provides free scanning and delivery of articles and book chapters of collections held at the library.  DigDDS requests may be found at USC Library webpage.

Information Literacy

Information Literacy helps us to cope by giving us the skills to know when we need information and where to locate it effectively and efficiently. It includes the technological skills needed to use the modern library as a gateway to information. It enables us to analyze and evaluate the information we find, thus giving us confidence in using that information to make a decision or create a product.

Laptop Service (with Fee)

Laptop computers are available for checkout to USC students, faculty and staff with a FEE. Laptops are available at the following libraries: Basic Education, Bonk, Education, JB-LRC and Law.

Inter-Library Loan

Materials that are not held by library might be borrowed temporarily from other libraries on inter library loan basis. To avail this facility, users need to connect with their respective Librarians.

Multimedia Hub

Multimedia hub is established in library with the latest multimedia and internet facilities. Equipments required for the use of different types of information media (like CDs, DVDs, Audios, Videos etc.) are available in this section so that users can have better access to the information resources in digital format.

Photocopying / Printing Service

Photocopying and printing facility is available with the library. Users can get the photocopy of required information from reference materials (like reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, journals and magazines etc.) on payment.

Reading Advisory Guidance

Librarians guide pupils and students in choosing reading materials suited to their level. They provide oral annotations of books to those who are looking for something to read. During the Library Period, pupils may choose to finish one or more selections from English readers and answer the corresponding exercises for added points in the Reading subject. The librarians check the exercises and provide teachers results and feedback on pupils reading. On free reading time, pupils and students may choose from a wide array of award-winning books, beautifully illustrated books, books for browsing and books for serious reading.

Reference and Information

Library provides reference and referral service to its users. Queries are answered using all possible sources. If the required information source is not available / accessible at the Library, the users are referred to other libraries where the required information may be available.

Space Utilization Service (JB-LRC)

Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention service that checks your writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying. When you submit your paper, Turnitin compares it to text in its massive database of student work, websites, books, articles, etc.
