The Genealogy & History Department is here to help people learn about the rich history of Clark County, Indiana. The majority of genealogy and history materials are kept at the Charlestown Library branch. The other four library branches house materials mostly pertaining to their area.

Read about the Jesse G. Dorsey Collection and the history of the Louisville Cement Company.  The Indiana Army Ammunition Plant, which was located on Highway 62 in Charlestown, Indiana, is one of the most asked about topics.
The library has a large collection of maps, documents, newsletters, photographs, reports, histories, new clippings and objects from INAAP. Online Genealogy Resources In Indiana: Death and birth records are kept at the county health departments. Clark County Health Department Marriage, wills, and property records are kept at the county court houses.
